True Potential are delighted to be supporting The Sunshine Fund again this year, with eleven staff running the Great North Run in aid of this fantastic charity.
The Sunshine Fund is a North East based charity that enhances the lives of local children with disabilities by funding equipment to meet their specialist needs. At True Potential we’ve worked closely with the charity over many years, including last year’s Great North Car Park Run. This was an event at True Potential Head Office, where staff did laps of the Car Park due to the 2020 Great North Run being cancelled. Staff fundraised over £2,500, adding to the £10,000 donated by True Potential to The Sunshine Fund in 2020.
Staff running this year’s half marathon include True Potential Chief Executive Daniel Harrison, who said; “The Great North Run is always an amazing event for the region. It’s fantastic to see so many people challenging themselves and in doing so, raising a lot of money for great causes. True Potential has sponsored the Sunshine Fund for the last three years and we’re looking forward again to cheering on Team Sunshine at this year’s Great North Run. I’ll be running for Team Sunshine along with 10 other members of staff from True Potential. We’ve all been in training and very much looking forward to it.”
Also running is Gregg Lang, Head of True Potential Adviser Services. In addition to the 13 miles he will run as part of the Great North Run, Gregg is already halfway through a challenge in which he will run the equivalent of the length of the UK in 2021. Gregg said: “I decided at the start of the year that I would set myself a personal challenge to run the equivalent distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats. I’ll have covered over 1000 miles by the time I’m done at the end of the year and to help get me there, I’m taking part in this year’s Great North Run, running with True Potential for Team Sunshine. The training is going well and although I’ve got a lot of miles still to do, I’m excited about the challenge and raising money for some great causes.”
