With the 2010’s concluded, we can reflect on ten years of success which perfectly positions us for even greater achievements in the 2020’s. Our mission to help you do more with your money is going to define the next ten years.
The last decade started out with True Potential just three years old, having been founded by David Harrison and our Senior Partners in 2007.
There has been substantial growth in True Potential every year since launch, and the last decade was off to a great start with the launch of True Potential Wealth Management. Our True Potential Wealth Platform went live in November 2011, built entirely in-house, to provide an integrated investment solution for UK financial advisers and their clients.
By the end of 2012 True Potential Wealth Management had seen a sharp increase in Partners. Nearly 200 Wealth Management Partners joined within the year. The following year we launched V6 technology, which offers financial advisers a holistic view of all client information, available on-the-go with seamless data links and integrated planning tools.
We’ve always been about ‘doing more’ at True Potential which is why in 2013 we undertook our first ‘Tackling the Savings Gap’ report which examines the UK’s savings habits. This quarterly report has highlighted that the average person will need £23,000 a year in retirement, however, based on current savings behaviour is on course to receive only £6,000 a year from their retirement fund.
We’ve made it our mission to close this Savings Gap. That’s why in November 2013 we launched the True Potential Centre for the Public Understanding of Finance in partnership with the Open University Business School. The centre aims to empower the UK public to better understand their personal finances. One of the Centre’s first acts was to develop a series of free online personal finance courses to help the public learn more about their money.
In 2014, we launched impulseSave®, our world-first technology which allows investors to top up anytime, anywhere, from just £1 on smartphones, tablets and desktops. This ties to our vision of investing being simple and effective, you can add to your investments in just the click of a button or tap of a screen.
At the same time as debuting impulseSave® we also unveiled True Potential Investor, our direct-to-consumer service offering Stocks & Shares ISAs, Personal Pensions and General Investment Accounts to the general public. With a minimum investment of just £1, it was another step in making investing available to everyone.
The True Potential Portfolios launched in October 2015, offering advanced diversification by blending together tried-and-tested multi-asset strategies from a range of world-class fund managers . Sitting in the middle of these Portfolios is our Balanced Portfolio, which has seen growth of 34.4% since launch. Our Aggressive Portfolio has grown 51% since launch, and just over four years later we are proud to say £7.5 billion is invested in our Portfolios
In recognition of the financial and technological innovations we made in the decade, we were honoured to be named European Business of The Year in 2017 and ‘European Public Vote’ winner in 2018 – making us the first company to win two European Business Awards.
In addition to our products and expertise, we’ve also made it our mission to promote our values in the past ten years. We were delighted to co-found the Social Mobility Pledge, and we are thrilled that so many of our apprentices through the True Potential Academy have graduated to vital roles within our business.
In the past year, we’ve been proud to support the World Transplant Games, and we’ve also completed the successful launch of our enhanced True Potential Platform. Built completely in-house, this project was completed on time, with clients successfully migrated over at the start of 2019.
We are proud to reflect on these highlights of the 2010’s, but it doesn’t stop there. We are excited to look to the future. The new decade will see True Potential once again finding revolutionary new ways to help you do more with your money.
